Public Input Processes
For public and private sector clients whose problems require solutions that will attract broad support, Keith conducts a unique public input and deliberation process called Collaborative Polling. While conventional public input processes tend to amplify the voices of those with extreme views and/or vested interests, often making it more difficult to reach sensible solutions with broad support, collaborative polling allows decision makers to gain a clear view of informed and representative public opinion. Collaborative Polling succeeds through several distinct steps:
- First, Keith works with interested parties to develop a brief on a controversial issue—He won’t stop refining the brief until all parties to the dispute can agree that it fairly represents the issue.
- Second, randomly selected members of the public are asked to review the brief and, after informing themselves through this review, share their views—Keith’s expertise in survey design and statistical analyses, developed through years of rigorous empirical research, is invaluable here.
- Third, Keith works with decision makers to identify and implement the practical solutions that an informed public identify.
